Chris O’Connell , the Archivist from Scottish Canals, is coming to the Church Hall, Baird Road on Wednesday 31st August at 7pm and will give a talk on the history of the Union Canal. As well, Karen, the Project Manager for the Union Canal Unlocked is looking forward to hearing any local stories about the canal. This project is an exciting new project that will celebrate the natural and cultural heritage of the canal with canalside interpretation, a printed guide and a smartphone app as well as an oral history archive. Ratho is one of the hubs that will be particularly featured so it would be great to contribute as much local information as possible.
